The School of Hard Knocks

The School of Hard Knocks

by Bob Grant

My birthday’s today – another year another page,

Next one’s the big one – retirement age.

Sixty-five – not so bad,

Not really happy – not really sad.

Medicare’s a must – so I am told,

The advantage of which – not really sold.

Remember the past – when I was young,

Different time then – old songs were sung.

At less than 30 – wanted to be older,

In my 40’s – wanted to be bolder.

In my 50’s – reality set in,

In my 60’s – can only grin.

Experience should be wrapped in a box –

Instead it it comes through The School of Hard Knocks.
