“My Own Sanity”

There once was a time when I wished life along,

racing to win or just to belong?

From teen to adult not speedy enough,

the waiting, alone, was really quite tough.

From Army to jobs caring little about,

my purpose in life I really did doubt.

I searched and I searched but really in vain,

which way should I go – was racking my brain.

But now that I’m old – I wish in reverse,

the slowing of time I’d like to coerce.

I’m set in my skin but not vanity,

preferring the tag -” My Own Sanity.”
